Frequently Asked Questions
Who should come visit Piedmont Pulmonary’ s COVID Recovery Clinic?
You should come to our clinic if you have COVID and/or lung problems. The primary focus of the CRC is to assist patients that have had a positive COVID-19 test and continue to experience respiratory symptoms (i.e., shortness of breath, cough, new to oxygen requirements).
We can also assist patients that have non-respiratory symptoms by referring them to one of our clinical partners with subject matter expertise such as a cardiologist or neurologist; however, before we can make a referral one of our CRC providers must perform an initial assessment of your symptoms. We also see patients who have recently been discharged from a hospital.
What will happen during my visit?
A Clinical Assessment. If a virtual visit is scheduled for you, then a detailed clinical assessment will be performed which will include a detail review of your illness and a review of your current symptoms. If you are scheduled for an in-person visit, then a physical exam, a respiratory assessment, and other diagnostic tests may be performed. After your visit, you will be given a referral to the appropriate clinical partner(s) if needed.
Will I see any additional specialist during my COVID Recovery Clinic visit?
No. Our primary focus will be your lungs and respiratory system, but after our initial assessment we will refer you to one of our clinical partners as needed. As mentioned earlier, we cannot make a referral to a clinical partner until you have been evaluated by one of our CRC providers.
Should I travel long distances or out of state to be seen in the COVID Recovery Clinic?
Maybe. We encourage individuals who must travel significant distances to first seek medical assistance in your local community. However, if you have been evaluated by a pulmonologist or other medical specialist in your local community, and are still seeking additional advice, we recommend you schedule a virtual visit with one of our CRC providers to ensure we will be able to offer you the services you need.

We are available to you even if your symptoms were mild to moderate or you were never hospitalized.
