Nursing Scholars Program

Piedmont Nursing Scholars Program

Start your nursing career at Piedmont and receive assistance to pay for your education!

The Piedmont Nursing Scholars Program rewards qualified nursing students with funds to defray the cost of attending nursing school and the opportunity to work as a Piedmont nurse after they graduate. This empowers students to have a pathway to join a leading health care provider in the Southeast and an opportunity to join us in making a positive difference in every life we touch across Georgia and beyond.

Highlights of the Program

  • The first scholarships were awarded prior to the fall 2023 semester, and new scholarships will continue to be awarded twice a year ahead of fall and spring semesters.
  • Nursing scholars selected for the program will receive $2,500 per semester, up to a total of $10,000, until graduation from nursing school.
  • Nursing students selected for the program will agree to a six-month service commitment to Piedmont for every semester that scholarship funds are awarded. This service commitment as a full-time professional nurse may be fulfilled at any Piedmont hospital in our system.
  • The service commitment does not start until after nursing scholars have graduated from nursing school, passed the NCLEX exam and started full-time employment as a nurse.

Apply for a Scholarship

  • Applications have closed for spring 2024 recipients. Come back soon for information on fall 2024 applications.
  • The application includes a 500-word essay discussing the applicant’s reasons for choosing nursing as a career and their commitment to the profession after graduation.
  • Applicants must submit two (2) letters of recommendation from current faculty at their college or university.
  • Applications cannot be processed until all required documentation is submitted.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Candidates for the Piedmont Nursing Scholars Program must be full-time or part-time nursing students in a licensed practical nurse (LPN), an associate degree in nursing (ADN/ASN), or a Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) program at an accredited college or university in Georgia, Alabama or South Carolina.
  • Candidates must remain enrolled, and remain in good standing, in their Degree Program.
  • Scholarship funds are to be used for tuition, books and program supplies used solely for the benefit of the individual receiving the scholarship.
  • Scholars are required to submit their final transcript at the end of the semester to the Piedmont Scholarship and Selection Committee to ensure they meet the eligibility requirements. Transcripts will be required with the initial application and with each subsequent scholarship renewal.
  • If the recipient fails to enroll, withdraws from college, or does not maintain eligibility requirements, the Piedmont Scholarship and Selection Committee will select another student if time permits. Otherwise, funds will be held in the donor’s account to be carried over to the next semester.
